I had a couple of hours spare this sunny afternoon, so I thought I'd crack open the little tin of Caran D'ache Neocolor II watersoluble crayons that has been sitting on my shelf for a while. I love the results! The colours are so vibrant and mix really well.
I tried a couple of techniques, lifting the colour directly from the crayons with a wet brush, which made the colour very rich and opaque, but could be watered down easily. I also transferred the crayon onto the paper, by drawing a small section of colour, wetting it and lifting the colour that way. This made the colour more transparent and easier to build up in layers. The colours mix and blend really well.
For a first attempt, I don't think it turned out too badly! I hope my sister and Brother-in-law like their hand-painted anniversary illustration!
